Hi all!

Our team is thrilled to announce that Children of the Wind will be having it’s world premiere at the Aruba International Film Festival this June 22-28, as apart of the festival’s Caribbean Spotlight Series. The exact date has yet to be confirmed (as soon as we know, we’ll let you know!) but we wanted to announce this wonderful news. Program director Aaron Hose commented after watching our rough cut, “This really has serious ‘wings’.  And it will fly.  Correction… it will soar.” We are humbled by Aaron’s words and so excited about the opportunity to premiere the film at AIFF — as Aruba is a neighboring island to Bonaire, and their festival attracts top industry professionals and filmmakers from around the world. We are working together with the festival coordinators and Tiara Air to provide airfare for Bonaireans that appear in the film as well.  It’s going to be fun! Check out this preview from last year’s festival:

In order to make the festival deadline, our team now has to work faster than ever to finish up the final touches on the film! Our first private screening recently took place here in New York on April 24. We were lucky enough to hold the screening at Blowback Productions where we were invited by founders Marc Levin and Daphne Pinkerson. Marc happens to be a windsurfer and fellow graduate of Wesleyan University! So when he heard about our film and that we were looking for a location to screen the rough cut, he and Daphne kindly offered their corner conference room, which has beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Hudson river. We couldn’t have asked for a better spot. We invited about 20 people — a mix of friends, family, colleagues, supporters of the film, and documentary filmmakers — who we asked to give us feedback after watching the film. We handed out a questionnaire asking what parts they liked, what could be improved, what they didn’t understand etc. Overall the feedback was very positive, and we received important constructive notes on what to improve. Here are a few pics from the screening, starting off with part of the group holding their Children of the Wind T-shirts:

Our plan moving forward is to finish final edits and lock picture by June 1, then spend two weeks color correcting and sound mixing, and outputting our final master by June 15. For those of you asking about the DVD — we will eventually make it available worldwide — but we have to wait until we hear back from the major festivals such as IDFA, TIFF, and Sundance, as they don’t accept films that have had DVD releases. But we will keep you closely updated! Hopefully you can make it to one of the festivals to watch the film in the meantime. We sincerely thank you all once again for your support, patience, and love. This is our final sprint to the finish now — we are working day and night — and your encouragement and continued belief in this project means the world to us! Please feel free to contact us with any questions or just to say hello. We love hearing from you: info@childrenofthewindmovie.com
